The Dean of the School of Accountancy and Business Dr. Eleanor C. Domingo together with the HTM Department Head Dr. Mayvelyn S. Covita conducted an On-the-Job Training and Industry Partners (OJT Linkages) visit in Cebu and Lapu-Lapu Cities last June 7-8, 2017.
Senior HTM students (21 HM and 40 TM) of the second semester were deployed on notable hotels and some on a travel agency and a museum for their OJT from December 2016 to February 2017. Students were detailed at: (1) Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino; (2) Crown Regency Hotel and Towers (3) Miascor Aviation Group, Cebu Office (a Groundhandling Corporation); (4) Asia Travel (Travel Agency); (5) Cebu Provincial Capitol (for its Museum); and (6) Hotel Elizabeth Cebu. For the summer of 2017, eight (8) HM students were deployed altogether at the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers.
Dr. Melody Q. Moscoso, the Manager of St. Andrew Educational Services and SMU’s OJT service provider had accompanied the administrators in visiting the above mentioned industry linkages to get updates on the students’ performances from the second semester and the students currently deployed. It is good to note that generally, students perform well, with few concerns which were attended to by the service provider, as these students stay at the dormitory owned by herself. Apart from the University’s Practicum Coordinator Mr. John Michael C. Ibarra performing the necessary updating with the students through calls, emailing and texting, Dr. Moscoso as the service provider does the essential complementary coordinating/liaising with concerned students and the establishments’ management for immediate issues/concerns to be resolved.
