The International Center for the Study of Teaching and Learning Styles (ICSTLS) of Saint Mary’s University conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Teaching and Learning Styles-Dunn and Dunn Model (TLSDDM) last July 13 and August 1, 2010 at the School of Education Function Rm., RT Bldg. Seventy-two third year BEED and BSED students attended the training.
The opening ceremonies started with an invocation led by Mr. Sherween O. Ramorin and the national anthem by Ms. Melisa Angela. F. Orbizo. The speakers and their topics were as follows: Dr. Glenda G. Salem, Head, Professional Education- Rationale and Nature of TLSDDM, Dr. Anita V. Boceta, In-charge, ICSTLS- The TLSDDM-Based Lesson Plan Outline and Strategies for Better Class Interaction/ Preparation of Instructional Materials (manual), Dr. Moises Alexander T. Asuncion, former Dean of Education and VP for Academics (now)-Preparation of Instructional Materials (computerized). There were two class demonstrators, namely, Mr. Clarence Nilo Serquenia, BSED English 4 and Ms. Sheillah Mae Barsicula, BSED Physci 4.
The workshop proper was done on the second day. Participants were grouped by discipline and prepared lesson plans and instructional materials. The closing program was held in the afternoon. This included presentation of exhibits, giving of impressions, and awarding of certificates of participation. The participants expressed their appreciation to the speakers and on the seminar as a whole. They hoped to use what they have learned as educators in the near future.
